Anthony Mackey’s solo exhibition ‘Angles: Perspectives from the Margins.’ is a site-specific exhibition at GOMA, Lombard Street, Waterford. The exhibition will utilise a variety of methods and approaches, ranging from drawing to print making to mixed media installation.

Anthony Mackey is a visual artist from Waterford, Ireland. Mackey has studied at Waterford College of Further Education, Limerick School of Art and Design and the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. Mackey’s practice is primarily concerned with social disadvantage and the marginalized and disenfranchised in society. Mackey is also interested in notions of collaborative practice, social engagement and working in a community context.

In his new exhibition, ‘Angles: Perspectives from the Margins’, Mackey examines some of the issues faced by people of lower socioeconomic backgrounds in social housing developments in Ireland. Using his own community of St. Pauls as a point of departure Mackey explores issues such as social disparity, social prejudice, social exclusion, crime, drug addiction and unemployment. Mackey is also interested in looking at the components that make up a community and reflects on the strength of community that exists in working class environments.
