Seamus O’ Brien

From Co. Wexford originally, now living in Waterford.

My practice operates within a consistent discipline which seeks to critique political and social structures. My projects are a narration of the stories from people I have engaged with through activism, around many social issues, whether individually or collectively.

Working through installation, film, photography and other media, I have attempted to open up discussions around racism, homelessness and class. Currently researching our relationship with work and our view of workers in the context of the Covid-19 crisis, where many socially invisible workers have now become a lifeline for our communities and how that reconfiguration can be developed into more worker led initiatives and co-operatives.

I have a B.A. (Honours) in Visual Art from Waterford Institute of Technology. At the moment doing an M.A. in Art & Process in Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork.
